The Camp
Surfing is much more than the act of riding waves. At Momentum our goal is to develop a complete water person. Emphasis is placed on putting surfing into a larger context that is both safe and fun.
In addition to surfing students will be instructed in:
- Body Surfing
- Ocean Swimming
- Skim Boarding
- Yoga
- Surf History and Etiquette
- Basic Marine Biology and Oceanography
No two waves are alike just as no two students are alike. At Momentum Surf Camp we have a variety of teaching methods that will get you on your feet and riding waves. From our base in Oxnard we will explore the surf of Ventura County picking waves and surf spots appropriate to the skill level of the participants.
Our Holistic approach to teaching surfing makes Momentum Surf Camp great place for beginners looking for their first ride as well as for intermediates surfers looking to sharpen their technique and wave knowledge.
You will also learn about the formation of waves and different kinds of breaks. We put surfing in a greater context of an aquatic life and strive to prepare students to pursue a variety of water sports.
Small class sizes and a varied curriculum allows for both individual attention as well as the freedom to spontaneously capitalize on any ocean condition
As with all Momentum Surf Camp lessons/camps the surfboard and wetsuit are provided so all students will need to bring is a swimsuit, towel, hat and sun block. After a great week of surfing students may relax at the beach for a barbeque of burgers, hotdogs, and all the fixins

Momentum Surf Camp is proud to announce Hurley as the primary sponsor for 2007. Each student will receive a Hurley camp shirt along with a goodie bag. As a additional bonus, Hurley will have a professional surfer to surf and hang out with the camp one day each week.
